Live Auction Rules

Live Auction items will only be available at the Ball, in person. Please make arrangements for proxy bidding on your behalf by contacting the Cattle Baron’s Ball office at 214-443-9222 or cattlebaronsdallas@cancer.org by Thursday, September 25, 2024, at 5:00 PM.

1. The Live Auction will begin approximately at 8:15 PM on Saturday, September 28, 2024 in the “Oil Baron’s Ballroom.”

2. To bid, simply raise your hand until recognized by the auctioneer or one of their bid spotters. Once the auctioneer says, “Sold,” if you are the winning bidder, you must hold up your hand until the sale is recorded. Your bid, oral or written, is a contract to buy.

3. Payment by the winning bidder must be made to the Cattle Baron’s Ball runner immediately following the item’s sale. All Live Auction items must be paid for by the close of the Live Auction at the cashier’s desk. Payment may be made with cash, American Express, Discover, MasterCard, or Visa. Credit cards will be processed immediately following a winning bid.

4. In the event of dispute, the auctioneer, after consultation with the Cattle Baron’s Ball Chairs, shall have the sole and final discretion to determine the successful bidder or resell the item in dispute.

5. Delivery of oversized items can be arranged for a fee. See the purchaser’s receipt packet for more information regarding delivery and shipping charges of large items. Our moving partner, Bolt Movers, can assist you. All delivery and shipping fees are the responsibility of the purchaser.

6. All auction items are auctioned on an “as is” basis. Any description of an auction item is for the sole purpose of identifying the item and the auction item donor. Cattle Baron’s Ball, auction item donors, and the auctioneer disclaim any express or implied warranties with respect to auction items. The fair market value of auction items is declared by the auction item donor. The American Cancer Society cannot be responsible for inaccuracies in valuation. Bidders are encouraged to preview the auction items and ask questions prior to the Live Auction.

7. All expiration dates on gift certificates are final. All purchasers/winning bidders must contact auction item donors within the time frame required, as stated. Cattle Baron’s Ball is not responsible for contacting donors. Vacation homes/trips are non-transferable and are subject to availability, restrictions, black-out dates, and applicable taxes and gratuities.

8. Air and ground transportation and trip arrangements are subject to availability, and the winning bidder must contact the auction item donor within the time frame requested, as specified, to determine mutually agreed upon dates and times. Transportation, taxes, and gratuities are not included unless specifically noted. Winner is responsible for any additional miles and travel costs that are not covered by what is offered in the package.

9. All American Airlines certificates for miles must be pursuant to the terms and conditions set forth by American Airlines. Certificates may only be used once on or before the expiration date, are not redeemable for cash, may not be purchased, sold or bartered, and are non-transferable. Only original certificates will be honored. Lost, stolen, damaged, or destroyed certificates will not be replaced by American Airlines or Cattle Baron’s Ball.

10. Group purchases are welcome; however, one person must be responsible for the bidding and coordinating payment at checkout. If the winning bid price is greater than the fair market value of the auction item, only the listed purchaser will receive credit for the donation.

11. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. There will be no exchanges or refunds made by Cattle Baron’s Ball or by our Live Auction donors. No item purchased at the Live Auction may be presented to the auction item donor for an exchange or a cash refund unless specifically stated in the item description.

12. Unless otherwise specified, all gift certificates and services must be used or redeemed by September 28, 2025 (one year after the 2024 Cattle Baron’s Ball).
